Ryan Wick

Ryan Wick has over 10-years experience designing, developing, testing and deploying applications for smart phones, handsets and mobile operating systems. He currently specializes in the Android operating system, but also has extensive experience with JavaME and Blackberry platforms. In his current role supporting the Sprint Application Developer program, he interfaces with the developer community, works with Handset manufacturers, and tracks trends and developments in the Mobile OS space. Most recently Ryan is the author of Sprint’s Android developer guides covering unique features of 4G devices such as the HTC EVO and the Samsung Epic.

This session will be an overview of Sprint's Android portfolio and how Sprint has gone beyond the Android standard to offer support for Enterprise users. Topics in this session will include Exchange Active Sync support and where Sprint specifically has gone above the Android 2.1 spec to ensure customer have a solid EAS solution. Some of the new Android 2.2 features supported in the HTC EVO 4G will be covered. We will also discuss some of the many and unique distribution options for your content include the recently announced SprintID.

The session will cover many of the unique features found in the two Android 4G devices already launched by Sprint. Topics of discussion will include how to use the Forward Facing Camera on these two phones to create your own video chat application. We will discuss the features and differences between HDMI and DLNA support on these devices. Multimedia topics including RTSP and Progressive download support for watching video. Some of the basics of the Android browser and how you can use these features such as Location services and Video playback. We will also be discussing some of the basics of preparing your applications to run on Sprint's Galaxy Tab. Update: we will cover the recently announced SprintID solution and the 3 new Android devices supporting it.
