Using the Windows Runtime from JavaScript in Windows 8

unassigned

About This Session

In Windows 8, you can write "Metro style" desktop applications in HTML and JavaScript. You have access to the Web platform of course. But you’ll also have access to hundreds of Windows APIs. This talk will focus on how JavaScript developers can use the Windows Runtime (“WinRT”) and custom native components written in C++, C#, and Visual Basic.NET with examples using media, networking, and the file system. Microsoft’s “WinJS” toolkit, a JavaScript library dedicated to building “Metro style” applications, will be a familiar presence throughout this code-laden presentation.
