Venk Krishnamoorthy, Ph. D.

Dr. Venk Krishnamoorthy brings years of engineering and business acumen in high-tech to his own patent practice in the Bay Area, which is focused on patent prosecution and non-litigious patent work in the Electrical and Computer arts. He has extensive experience working with companies, including start-ups in Silicon Valley. Formerly with the Finnegan law firm, where he practiced for several years, Dr. Krishnamoorthy has also represented large multinational companies in complex multi-patent litigation in Federal Courts and the U.S. International Trade Commission. Dr. Krishnamoorthy is a graduate of Santa Clara Law, holds a doctorate in Computer Science from the University of Louisiana, and worked for several years developing software, processors, and ASICs at Silicon Graphics (SGI) prior to becoming a patent attorney.

This seminar intended for the non-patent practitioner and will provide a primer of intellectual property law basics regarding the USPTO practice and how it may apply to your inventions. Topics include how applications are prosecuted by the PTO from filing through to grant including; Statutory Subject Matter of what can and cannot be protected, Prior Art, Disclosure Requirements, Duty of Disclosure, Inventorship and other issues. We will discuss some practice tips in working with attorneys and strategies for avoiding common pitfalls that can jeopardize your intellectual property rights as applied to software/computer innovations.
