Deme: A Django-Based CMS for Deliberative Content Creation and Control by Users

unassigned

About This Session

Deme (which rhymes with "team") is a web content management system/framework designed for heavily social applications that involve group deliberation/collaboration. It's also been designed to embody Control by Users, a paradigm that combines ideas such as FOSS, participatory design, data portability, a "bill of rights" for users, and "Do not track". We will give an overview of the high level design goals and show how Deme embodies them, with attention to implementation/performance issues and coding choices for such a general purpose framework. NOTE: This session was added late (Monday 10/3) - please spread the word to anyone you know who might be interested. Project site: Deme.Stanford.EDU. Noam Ben-Avi will be a time/space-shifted presenter.

Time: 5:00 PM Saturday Room: 4310
