About This Session

After a few hours in Swing, some developers will swear that its an API only a parent could love. Be that as it may, because of its long existence, Swing is one of the most supported and extended components of the Java language.

Griffon allows you to have to best of both worlds, the plethora of user interface widgets already available and a way to interact with them in a sensibly structured way that doesn't really feel like programming Swing.

In this session, we'll cover the basics of the Griffon framework, giving you the skills needed to create your first Griffon application, extend it with plugins from the Griffon/Grails ecosystem, and create your own to encapsulate your favorite Java library. A session attendee should have some knowledge of Groovy.
