  • Personal Finance 101 and Coding

    How do you teach your children about the value of money? How do you teach them to save, not spend? Do your kids know what is money, bartering, earned interested, recurring interest, stocks etc? Students are taught about health and other topics from 5th grade but there are no courses about financial literacy in our k-12 school curriculum. Financial Literacy at early age is a very important skill to have, since financial decisions that we take make great impact in shaping our lives.  The goal of this session is to contribute in building financially responsible and smart youth. This interdisciplinary course will combine finance and java coding and will introduce students to Finance and Programming. Finance part of the course will cover: • Basic money and finance related concepts Programming part of the course will cover: • Procedural thinking • Creative Problem Solving, Strategies & exploring these to decide best way to solve a problem • Programming fundamentals, such as control structures, variables • Testing and debugging programs to find issues In current session java will be used as the base language. Finance projects will be used to teach programming. Basic knowledge of coding although not mandatory but will be helpful for kids to pick up.
