Web developers are now Windows 8 developers. With the advent of Windows 8's new WinRT architecture, if you're among the millions who know HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, then you can create Windows 8 apps. This session will make some assumptions so that we can dig into more advanced concepts. The content will assume your familiarity with: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, basic Windows 8 app development. The following topics will be discussed: app architecture, advanced grid/list layout, programmatic appbar management, contract implementation, data binding and templating, OData interaction, and more.

This is not your grandpa's n-tier application! We'll start with a SQL Azure database, abstract the data with Entity Framework, syndicate it as OData with WCF Data Services, then pull it into Windows 8 using JavaScript. Our time will be spent mostly in Visual Studio with a little time in the Azure portal and a little in Blend.
