The Science of Great UI, Part 1

unassigned

About This Session

Explore the how and why of great UI. If you believe you’re not an artist, that UI is merely subjective, or that a great UI is not worth the effort, then these two part sessions are for you. This session will shatter the popular myth that UI is subjective. We’ll see that the quality of user interfaces can actually be quantified and a winner can be selected based on agreed-upon criteria. We’ll look at ways to measure physical and mental effort, irrespective of the physical device (web, mobile, tablet, desktop) or target platform. We’ll find ways to widen the path for your users, and look at shortcomings in today’s controls. We’ll cover layered UIs, navigation, size and precision, predicted assistance, and discoverability.
